Michael Alfera Moderates Judicial Breakout Session at the 2025 ABTL Annual Conference in Hawaii

The 51st Annual Convention of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers (ABTL) took place October 8–12, 2025, at the Wailea Beach Resort in Maui. The event gathered trial lawyers, in-house counsel, mediators, and members of the judiciary from across California for a weekend of substantive programming and collaboration. Weinberg Gonser LLP has maintained a long-standing and active relationship with ABTL, and our attorneys had a strong presence at this year’s convention.

On October 11, 2025, Weinberg Gonser litigation attorney Michael Alfera moderated a panel featuring members of both the state and federal bench alongside experienced trial practitioners. Drawing from his background as a former judicial law clerk in the Los Angeles Superior Court, Michael facilitated a candid discussion on advanced litigation strategy in trade secret disputes.

While the focus was on current trends in state and federal trade secret litigation, the panel expanded to address broader issues, including client confidentiality, law-and-motion strategy, and bias in the profession.

Weinberg Gonser’s involvement with ABTL provides a direct benefit to our clients. By remaining connected with sitting judges and litigation colleagues, our litigators can stay on the leading edge of legal developments and judicial trends that materially affect case outcomes.

These connections, backed by courtroom experience and credibility, enhance our ability to advocate effectively and efficiently for clients facing complex business disputes.  As a business law firm built on long-term relationships, Weinberg Gonser remains committed to active leadership within the legal community. Our continued participation in ABTL reflects the same philosophy that drives our client service: be engaged, be prepared, and deliver results.
